What We Believe
Trinity - We believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one in three persons active in our lives.
Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19; John 14:16-17, 16:23-27; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 4:4-6
Holy Bible - We believe it is the inspired Word of God, useful for correction and teaching: it is the revelation of God and His purpose for mankind; it is most visible through Jesus - the Word made flesh.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105; John 1:1
Salvation through Jesus - We believe God gave His one and only Son as a free gift to the world as representation of His love - a divine love that is proved through the incarnation, death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, which provides eternal life and will culminate in His second coming.
John 3:16, 14:6; Romans 5:16, 6:23, 10:9-10; Ephesians 2:8-9; Acts 4:12, 10:43; Titus 2:11-12; Colossians 1:13-14; 1 John 5:11-13
Baptism - We believe that we should follow the example set by Jesus, which is to demonstrate our testament of faith through the symbolic action of baptism. We accept any version of baptism for membership by already professed believers and will practice baptism by immersion for new believers.
Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 2:38-39
Communion - In communion, with bread and cup, we acknowledge our sins, our dependence on God, and the grace offered through Christ’s sacrifice, seeking forgiveness and renewal.
Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:19-20
Nature of Mankind - We believe every person is disobedient to God’s will and plan in varying degrees and all of us fall short of the glory of God. All people are sinners and are separated from God because of “the fall”. People can be redeemed through repentance and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and Him alone. Jesus died for all sinners. Anyone who accepts Jesus as King of their life, is forgiven for every sin. Upon this personal decision, God re-establishes a personal relationship with that person and promises eternal life.
Romans 3:23-24, 5:12; Psalms 14:3, 51:4-5; 1 John 1:8; Jeremiah 17:9
Incarnational Nature of the Church - We believe that the church is the body of Christ and we represent His hands and feet. Through the church, God is reaching out to and ministering to the world. Therefore, we seek to embody Jesus for our neighbors through generosity, hospitality, and sacrificial service.
Ephesians 3:10-11, 5:23; 26-27, Acts 1:8, Revelation 19:7, 1 Peter 3:15-16, 1 Corinthians 1:10
Rule of Faith - Our faith in the Holy Trinity is the basis of our belief in God. This is rooted in the historic, orthodox Christian statement of faith known as The Apostles Creed.
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth,
And in Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son, Our Lord:
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again
From the dead.
He ascended into heaven and is seated
At the right hand of the Father,
And he will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit;
The holy catholic church,
The communion of saints,
The forgiveness of sins,
he resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
